Combas is a friendly, small village situated 20km west of Nimes on the edge of the fantastic Cevennes National Park. A one minute stroll from the villa takes you into the wild Garrigue, where a network of paths weave their way through olive groves and woody scrubland. A 20 minute circular walk on a cool summer evening is great way to see the beautiful views towards Pic St Loup in the distance.
A good bakery / small grocery store and the local bar are within a few minutes walk of the house. There is also a tabac in the village which sells stamps, postcards and newspapers. There is a tennis court and small sports pitch with BBQ/picnic area.
The road out towards Sommieres, the nearest town, passes vineyards before meeting the banks of the Vidourle river at Sommieres. The old, medieval castle perched on the hill above the town is worth a visit.
There are many great markets, festivals and celebrations throughout the seasons in the surrounding towns and villages. Information can be found on local posters, the tourist office at Sommieres and the information folder at the villa.
